A fine Model 1842 percussion pistol produced by the firm of H. Aston. These pistols were made in .54 caliber smoothbore and featured a built-in rammer attached to the muzzle with a swivel. This example is in excellent condition with its original inspector cartouche stamped in the walnut stock. All brass elements are intact including the butt cap, back strap, trigger guard, escutcheon and barrel band.

Though somewhat antiquated by the Civil War, multiple single-shot pistols such as these were popularly worn in a “brace” by cavalrymen, particular in Confederate ranks.
