Description
An exceptional World War II relic, a chair personally owned by HERMANN GORING (1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. This chair originally came from the special train on its way to Berchtesgaden carrying furniture from Karinhall in 1945. The staff abandoned the train in Unterstein and was subsequently looted by the local population. The chair measures 19 x 33 in., of solid oak wood construction with a brown leather backrest and seat. The backrest bears a simplistic embossed design at the center. The manufacturer's plate is mounted to the bottom of the seat, reading ‘S.A. LA GARNITURE BRUXELLES 137’. Displays a notable split to the leather of the seat. The wood also shows some signs of wear to the finish though it is to be expected due to age and travel. Extraordinarily rare!
