The Kagyu sect has developed many branches in the process of inheritance, generally known as the "four major traditions and eight minor traditions". It is the sect with the most branches in Tibetan Buddhism. This statue of Marpa wears a monk's hat, has a high and broad forehead, a square face, deep eyes and a high nose, and is calm and resolute.
