Native American, Southwestern USA, found in central eastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Gallup style, Pueblo II, ca. 980 to 1150 CE. A charming bowl that was formed via the meticulous Puebloan coil-and-scrape technique exhibiting a white ground basin decorated in black pigment. Stripe-filled bands alternate with solid blank bands, and all surround a central, solid-black "S" form. The Gallup style is associated with the Pueblo II period, when people in the area traded pottery for food with wealthy settlements such as Chaco Canyon. Size: 5.625" Diameter x 2.375" H (14.3 cm x 6 cm)

Condition
Repair to one area of wall, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and light fading to pigment, with minor pitting and earthen deposits, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to motif within basin. Previous inventory number handwritten beneath base.
