Native American, Southwestern USA, found in central eastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Gallup style, Pueblo II, ca. 980 to 1150 CE. A charming bowl that was formed via the meticulous Puebloan coil-and-scrape technique exhibiting a white ground basin decorated in black pigment. Stripe-filled bands alternate with solid blank bands, and all surround a central, solid-black "S" form. The Gallup style is associated with the Pueblo II period, when people in the area traded pottery for food with wealthy settlements such as Chaco Canyon.
