**First Time At Auction**
Native American, Southwestern United States, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A hand-built pottery mug of spherical form with a round but stable base, an everted rim, and a thick handle along the verso. The beige-ground, likely once white, is decorated with black-painted linear motifs that form stepped blocks which curve around to create abstract forms. Several drilled holes around the body exemplify how the ancients repaired their vessels by tying knots in string fed through the holes. Size: 4.6" L x 4.2" W x 3.6" H (11.7 cm x 10.7 cm x 9.1 cm)
