For I shall arise, and shall be glorified, and shall be raised up with Glory, ever as God, with faith and love magnifying Thee. His head is inclined and his arms folded in front of him. His mother stands beside him supporting him with her hands. The subject also relates to the Man of Sorrows imagery found in Cretan icons and derives from the western Pieta.
