Florida painting on canvas by the Highwaymen painter Sylvester Wells (American, 1938-2023), titled "Cotton Wagon," depicting an African American family in a horse-drawn wagon. Purchased in 2006 from Wells at an art show at the St. Pete Coliseum. Later in his career, Wells began producing paintings that showed scenes of everyday life in Florida, versus the typical Highwaymen sunsets and landscapes. Apparently unsigned, but unconditionally guaranteed to be Wells' work. Canvas measures 18" x 36", and frame measures 22-5/8" x 40-5/8".
