Description
A mid-Victorian silver baluster mug, embossed with flowers and foliate scrolls enclosing vacant cartouche, with leaf capped scroll handle and raised on a spread foot. Hallmarked James Dixon & Son, Sheffield 1858. Height 14cm, weight 8.48ozt (263.8g).
Condition Report:
- Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- A few bashes visible around the lower belly.
- With further minor surface nicks and dints, including around rims.
- Interior appears gilded but is also quite tarnished and dirty in places.
- Seam line visible on the handle side and there look to be solder repairs along this; these seen more to the interior.
- Hallmarks located to base and are clear and legible; also with a circle mark to the base.
