Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Tumaco/La Tolita / Chorrera or Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 600 BCE to 500 CE. A pair of pottery figurines mold-formed into whistles, one depicting an owl and the other a human figure possibly mid shamanic transformation. Size of human whistle: 1.3" L x 2" W x 4" H (3.3 cm x 5.1 cm x 10.2 cm)
Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection, before 2020; human figure: ex-Dr. John Hilsabeck estate, Orange County, California, USA.
