Description
AN EXCEPTIONAL JAPANESE SILVER AND SHIBAYAMA CABINET, MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY). The silver case with bamboo style frame and floral repoussé panels. Containing four hinged silver doors and three silver faced drawers each inset with ivory panels finely decorated in Shibayama style with birds and floral blossoms in carved mother of pearl, iridescent abalone, and black coral. The interior panels and shelves decorated in Nasiji and gold hiramaki-e. The reverse with a chased mountainous scene of a pavilion. Inlaid silver signature chop on base. Height 9.25 inches (23.5 cm).
