This lot contains interesting 1960-70s government or court documents which reflect the turbulent protests of the times, including the post Watergate "Church Committee" hearings, plus the brief prepared by Savio's lawyers for the trial stemming from his involvement in the Free Speech Movement. Savio and Michael Rossman were the leading advocates of students' rights to free speech, and the protests engendered by the FSM in Berkeley were the key events in the early 1960s in triggering a full-fledge and organized student protest movement throughout the country which lasted a decade, re-writing the rules of political discourse in America.
