A Thangka of a seated Shakyamuni, 18th century, probably Central Tibet, accompanied by monks and deities. Shakyamuni, who some followers consider to be a Supreme Buddha, taught the Zhongdao, pigment on cotton, 72 x 54cm Zhongdao means 'Middle Path', a moderate lineage of Buddhism.
