altered by Hewes & Phillips, Trenton, NJ, into a percussion rifle musket, originally made in 1830, converted c. 1861; .69 cal.; the barrel 42 in. L.; walnut stock; 57 1/2 in. L. overall; with ramrod and leather sling of the period
Condition
"N.J" stamped on left side of barrel. Various inspectors' stamps. Two-leaf sight mounted in reverse direction to standard. Metal parts with dark patina.
