Description
Barrel length 6 - 3/4". Belgian made, most likely for Argentinian import between 1853 and 1877, based on the proof markings. This Trabuco (Spanish for blunderbuss) possesses French patent markings, “Depose”, and “E. Paris Brevute’”, as well as the Belgian proof mark, “ E L G *”. The action is in working order, and the bore is in good condition, with a rifled section. The lot also includes two intact 16 gauge pinfire shells, one loaded with a ball, the other unloaded. It has a pleasing patina, and besides the two screws holding the sighting blade on being obvious replacements, the gun appears all original. The lot also includes a copy of the book, “Systeme Lefaucheux: Continuing the Study of Pinfire Cartridge Arms Including Their Role in the American Civil War.” There is a gun featured on pg. 203 of this book that appears to be of virtually identical make and manufacture.Condition (Very Good Plus).
