Description
COLLECTION OF 21 NORTH AFRICAN SPEAR POINTS
Neanderthal - 40,000 years old
Ziagot, Morocco
Neanderthal tool-making is categorized as Mousterian, after the findings at the site of Le Moustier, in the Dordogne region of France. There is some debate over whether these spear points were used for projectile weapons, or simply thrusting, but certainly a lot of care has gone into making them effective. This is a fine collection of 21 examples, selected carefully for consistency of form, fashioned from a variety of materials, ranging from 1 3/8 to 2 3/8 inches long, presented in a 8 x 14 1/2 inch Riker mount.
