Item Details

Description

An early 20th century gem-set dragonfly bar brooch. The oval turquoise cabochon dragonfly, with split pearl wings and red-gem eyes, to the plain bar. Two split pearls deficient. Length 5.8cms. Weight 4.6gms.

Condition

Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Some discolouration to the reverse. Two split pearls deficient. Some replacement split pearls, with excess glue residue to two. Fine scratches and matt surface to the reverse of one of the wings. Turquoise blue with some inclusions and typical green patches of discolouration, fair condition with some surface abrasion. Red-gems purplish-pink, fairly good clarity with typical inclusions, fair to poor condition with large chips. Split pearls creamy colour, vary slightly in hue. Fair skins with some surface blemishes.
