American, 20th century. Set of six matching Baker "Governor Winthrop" regency style dining chairs comprised of two arm chairs and four side chairs. Each with black lacquered and parcel gilt decorated frame with scrolled and gilt top rail over an overlapping concentric pierced back splat and caned seat on front simulated bamboo legs with custom cream colored silk cushions with tassels. Height 33", width 21.25", depth 16". Seat to floor 17.5".

The caning is strong on all but one chair. Frame, arms and legs are sturdy and not weak. There is slight paint loss to gilt where hands could have rubbed finish. Wear commensurate with age.
