Legal document charging Thomas Wilson with a debt of $2000 due in duties to the Republic of Texas for good imported into Texas. The second sheet contains for "Interrogatory" questions for the defendant regarding the debt. The first sheet signed twice by Wm. C. Young and the second sheet signed once by him as the District Attorney of the 7th Judicial District of Texas. Young was an important early settler, serving in several official capacities. Young County, Texas was named for him in 1856. Young's assassination by a gang of bandits in 1862 was avenged by the hanging and lynching of more than 20 men. Rare.
