WEHRMACHT ALBANIA AND GREECE PHOTO ALBUM WITH DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Excellent photo and descriptive album assembled by Stabsgefreiter Kurt Ritz, a staff officer who served in Russia and later fought partisans in Croatia and elsewhere in the Balkans. About half of the album, 70+ pages, is comprised of 4 1/2" x 3" photos from the field, the balance being maps and typed poetry, text, and lists of the places he served, dates, ranks held, awards (including Iron Cross), etc. Images open scenes of destroyed western Russian towns with shattered building, bridges, and churches, a destroyed Russian position, a Stug and a town being shelled in the distance, a factory reduced to rubble, a long line of prisoners, a Muslim parade, mosques, locals, etc. Also present is Ritz's Iron Cross award signed by a Gen. "Bergmann" as well as his pass allowing him to leave camp while being held at Gradnitz. A fine grouping!
