PARLIAMENTARY ACT TO PROTECT TRADE AND BREWERS
Rare imprint: "An Act for the more effectual preventing the clandestine Importation of foreign Hops into Great Britain and Ireland, and to prevent the adulterating or sophisticating of Hops, to alter the Colour or Scent thereof.", 6pp. 7 1/2" x 11 1/4", (London: John Baskett), first printing disbound from a sessional volume thus limited to about 1,100 copies. The act emanated from a meeting of Parliament commenced at Westminster on Jan. 23, 1727 and it essentially concerns itself with imposing duties upon imported hops - some of which came from America. Light toning, else very good and perhaps one of the earliest beer-related imprints extant.
