CONNECTICUT SOLDIER BEFORE FREDERICKSBURG
Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 4to., [near Fredericksburg, Nov. 30, 1862]. Pvt. Walter H. Lord of the 15th Ct. Infantry writes his brother, in part: "…Our Brigade has received marching orders…destination unknown…our duties would be to arrest all stragglers and deserters, and to prevent the sale of intoxicating drinks to soldiers…Col. Bostwick is not gaining popularity in his regiment…we are living now, in warm Sibley tents, furnished with stoves…I do not know what the effect the change will have to the men come to live in shelter tents…I think there will be some grumbling…". Very good. Actually, Lord was en route to Fredericksburg where the regiment would be engaged two weeks later.
