(1758 - 1831) Fifth President of the United States who negotiated the Louisiana Purchase and promulgated the Monroe Doctrine. Partly-printed D.S. as president, 1p. sm. folio, Washington, Mar. 16, 1818, a grant of 200 acres of land unto Ebenezer Storer, a Revolutionary War veteran who had served in a Massachusetts regiment, given as a reward for his service and to promote "propagating the Gospel among the Heathen". Typical folds and light foxing mainly in margins, Monroe's signature is sharp and dark.
