War of 1812 era Eagle-Head-Pommel officer's artillery saber with scrolled hand guard leading to an embossed American eagle with shield - upper part of blade engraved "Warranted - A. Berger" - appears to be silver over copper - blade is engraved in gold with an American eagle holding banner inscribed "E. Pluribus Unum" on a blued background - unfortunate rust and many chips to blade - carved bone handle with large chip - scabbard in poor condition also with creases and cracks in leather, engraved silver over copper ornamentation on scabbard has extensive silver losses. 36.25" total length - blade length 31". Provenance: From an early local Salt Point NY farmhouse, collection handed down from family.
