Description
TCHICHAGOV PAVEL: (1767-1849) Russian Military and Naval Commander of the Napoleonic wars. He participated in the 1812 campaign against Napoleon and was accused of letting Napoleon escape at the Berezina River. In 1813, he was dismissed and never returned to Russia, becoming a citizen of the United Kingdom. A.L.S., Tchitchagoff, one page, small 4to, Paris, 9th April 1823, to his accountant, in French. Tchichagov writes having revised his figures and found all in order, further stating ´I have to inform you that I have an opportunity of investing my funds with better profits´.
