The book describes hundreds of places in Jerusalem and its environs. The places relate to ancient history. Jewish Biblical history, Tanaic times and more, in additions to Christian history in Jerusalem. A rare phenomenon in such an early Latin literature: the names of hundreds of places in Jerusalem were printed with their Hebrew names, as they were called by the Jews, in large, nice Hebrew letters.
Incudes an important map: between pages 24-25 – a map printed on a large leaf, 34x29.5 cm., on one-side-only of the leaf, featuring a beautiful woodcut of Jerusalem. With the title: Geometrica Urbis Ierosolymae Delinaitio. This map is not listed by Laor. With additional miniature maps and engravings. Very rare.
Parchment binding in wonderful condition. Colored cut leaves. Clean, quality paper. Bookplate of a royal catholic family at the conclusion. Not identified. Very fine condition.
