The AEAA is extremely proud to present this next Vaseline glass item, from the large & diverse 30+ year collection of Mr. Loren (Butch) Morse of Yukon, Oklahoma. This handsome figure represents a 1980s Vaseline Opalescent Summit Art Glass large standing bear standing on a circular plinth. This example features a magnificently defined mold, and in excellent + condition. Our example carries the V in a circle Summit Company mark, weighs 1# 4 oz. and stands 4.25 x 3 x 4.5 inches tall. xxxxxxxxxxxx. Russell and JoAnn Vogelsong started in the Glass business selling and having glass items made for them in their molds. In 1984 they decided to open their own glass factory in Ravenna, Ohio and The Summit Art Glass Company was the result. Some of the Summit items are marked with the V in Circle and others are unmarked or marked with the old marks that were in the molds when purchased. Some items may be found with their paper label. However due to the passing of Russell in the Fall of 2005 and the high price of gas, the factory closed. JoAnn and her son decided to dispose of the operation in 2006 and their molds went in several directions. Some to the Cambridge Collectors, some to other individuals like Ed Bowman and several to Helen & Phil Ross Wholesale Glass. . These Topaz Opalescent hobnail items are highly collectible and quite valuable. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Mr. Morse was a loving family man, and also a well-known and respected member of the Vaseline Glass collecting community. His untimely passing a year ago was a blow to everyone, and we have very humbly accepted the commission to place his treasures in good homes.
