Offered here is a painting by the Leipzig painter Sighard Gille, created in the time 2011-12. Gille studied with Bernhard Heisig at the ‘Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst‘ in Leipzig. He is considered a representative of the New Leipzig School of painting. His early works from the 60s to the late 80s are dealing with subjects of realism in an expressive manner. In the late 80s, the use of color comes more into focus, it is powerful, intense and wild. Our painting entitled ‘Wilde Möhre auf Blau’ (Wild carrot on blue) presents the viewer a spearing bouquet with the flowers of the so called wild carrot, while the whole composition is characterized by an intense blue color.



The painting is signed and dated lower right ‘G. 11.12’ and verso furthermore signed, titled and dated ‘Gille. Wilde Möhre auf Blau, 2011 / 12‘. It is in very good condition. The image measures 100 x 120 cm, the framed dimensions are 105 x 124.5 cm.



Sighard Gille (b. 1941)

Sighard Gille was born in 1941 in Eilenburg. He studied at the ‘Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst‘ under Bernhard Heisig and Wolfgang Mattheuer from 1965-70. Shortly working as a freelance artist, in 1973-76 he became a master student of Bernhard Heisig at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. Back in Leipzig, he worked as an assistant at the HGBL where he every now and again received teaching positions. In 1982 he was awarded the National Prize of the GDR for art and literature.
