Stefanie Schneider (b. 1968)
Stefanie Schneider was born in Cuxhaven and studied photography at the Folkwang Schule in Essen. In 2006, she became the ‘shooting star’ of the art market and gradually established her works in the international scene. Her unusual use of faded Polaroid films has become the hallmark of her artistic output and is characterized by unpredictable and often bizarre color gradients. Schneider also likes to rework the surfaces of her Polaroid pictures with rather unorthodox materials such as sand, in order to take analogue pictures from these compositions in a final step. Stefanie Schneider lives and works in Los Angeles and Berlin. (tfa)
