The present photograph was taken in July 1971 during the Apollo 15 mission, the ninth manned mission of the American Apollo space program and the fourth mission to land on the moon. The viewer sees the astronaut Jim Irwin with the ‘Lunar Roving Vehicle’ during the first EVA (‘Extra Vehicular Activity’) of this mission. He was photographed by the astronaut David Scott.
The photograph is numbered ‘NASA, AS15-86-11602’ on the upper left margin. The print is mounted under a mat. There are visible handling creases, especially to the left upper area. Outside the depiction, the margins are a little yellowed as well as toned on the back. The image measures 18.6 x 19.4 cm, the dimensions of the sheet are 20.1 x 25.4 cm. The mat measures 33 x 33 cm.
