Description
1240 AH = 1825 AD, 208 x 168 cm, South West Persia, Fars
An early nomad rug by the Shekarlu Qashqa'i presenting a seemingly archaic design of geometric and floral motifs as well as large animals in a random arrangement. In the upper section of the field, a man in uniform, his arms akimbo, is portrayed face on; to his left a woman is represented on a smaller scale. If we have read the woven date at the top left of the field correctly, "1240", this carpet would be almost two hundred years old. - Signs of age and wear, somewhat reduced ends.
