Description
Athens, Greece, second quarter 5th century BCE. A sweet example of Greek pottery! Small oil vessel decorated in red-figure technique, with owl looking forward, standing between two laurel sprigs, rays decorating upper shoulder/lower neck. Black lead glazed surface with lovely iridescence. 4.13"H (10.48 H cm)
Provenance: Ex-J.M.E. collection, New York, acquired at Sotheby’s London in December 1991. Exhibited: The New York 5th International Antiquarian Fine Art Fair, New York, November 2001.
