Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, ca. 500 BCE - 500 CE. Terracotta grater in fish form, with kaolin slip, front side inserted with small stone flakes to aid in removing scales from fish. Whimsical mouth resembling bones with eye and gills. 10"L x 3-1/2"H, custom museum-quality stand.
