This picturesque landscape painting by the Bavarian landscape painter Andreas Mittelfellner (1912-1972) is in style and subject reminiscent of the romanticists of the 19th century. This oil painting shows a late summer Bavarian landscape with the Chiemsee lake in the background. A group of peasants are harvesting hay. The fine brush work in this painting is a good example of Mittelfellner’s precise style.
On the lower right the painting is signed “A. Mittelfellner”. Its condition is good with some color abrasions due to framing and some slight craquelure in the area of the treetops. Also the elaborate frame shows only slight signs of wear. The panel measures 20 x 45 cm, while the framed dimensions are 33 x 58 cm. (amb).
