Near East, Turkey, ca 17th to 18th century CE. Glazed pottery tile in a vibrant floral pattern in green, light blue, deep blue and white. Set into modern frame. Turkish tiles and ceramics play a prominent role in the history of Islamic art. Scholarship traces the origination of this art form back to the Ufghurs of the 8th and 9th centuries. Size: 9-1/2"H x 9-1/2"W x 1"D.
