Description
Originally installed in the Union Depot train station in Troy, New York, this clock was part of the renovation to the third version of the terminal completed in the early 1900s by the architectural firm Reed & Stern. The clock is fashioned in white terra cotta, glazed in an emerald green, and divided into sections. A Grecian style relief surrounds the 30" clockface. On each side of the face, there is a youth and above is a locomotive breaking through a tunnel of steam. These sculptural elements are consistent with the Beaux Arts style used throughout the terminal. Reed & Stern would use the same design concepts utilized in the Union Depot in their commission for Grand Central Station. H 88" x W 122" x D 18"
