The present collection of New Guinean wood carvings dating to circa 1960 comprises a ceremonial lance, a high bowl with two masks on the sides and supported by a bird-like double figure on the base as well as a totem figure of a bird entwined with a crocodile. The ritual objects feature a fine and detailed carving work.
The carvings are in good condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. There are some minor abrasions to the surface. The totem measures 82 cm in height, the bowl 32 cm and the lance has a length of 123.5 cm. (tfa)
