Together with a T.L.S. by David Hay, Honorable Secretary to Winston Churchill, one page, 8vo, London, 4th September 1951, to Signor Giovanni Fonta in Italy, on the printed stationery of the House of Commons. Hay states that he is writing on behalf of Churchill and informs his correspondent 'Your request has been noted but I regret that it is not possible for Mr. Churchill to help you as you suggest. I am sure you will appreciate that he receives a very large number of requests for personal gifts and it is quite beyond his power to accede to them all'. Accompanied by the original envelope.
