Hans Coray designed the legendary Landi chair in 1938 on the occasion of the Landesausstellung in Zurich (1939) – which was the origin of its name. The chair is made of pressed aluminum, which was considered a typical Swiss material because of the major aluminum industry in the country. The chair has some functional properties: it is weatherproof and can be used outdoors, because the rain water runs through the perforated seat. It is suitable for mass production, light and can be stacked. The present two chairs were manufactured in the 1950s by the P & W. Blattmann Metallwarenfabrik. Here is the model with 91 holes.

The chairs are in ver good condition, showing minor signs of age and wear.. The dimensions are 75 x 50 x 65 cm.

Hans Coray (1906-1991)

The Swiss artist and designer Hans Coray studied Romance studies in Zurich. 24 years of age, he started designing furniture. His most important piece is the chair 'Landi'. It is an early example for sheer functionality and makes his creator one of the pioneers of industrial design. After World War II, Coray mostly focused on Fine Arts. (cko)
