Italy, 1996
Giuseppe Spagnulo (b. 1936) - Italian sculptor
One sculpture signed and titled in the iron ‘Spagnulo 96’
Dimensions: circa 10 x 13 x 13 cm
Good condition
Provenance: Private collection, Germany
One of Spagnulo’s typical public art works in the tradition of the Arte Povera. The current highest auction record for an iron sculpture of Spagnulo, a former assistant of Lucio Fontana, is more than €19,000
Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 8,000 Euro

Giuseppe Spagnulo (born 1936) looks at the sculpture as an act of ‘breaking up the material’. From his perspective, the form arises as a consequence of an intervention into its wholeness. Spagnulo ‘breaks’, divides or transforms the iron, breaking at the same time with the symbol of social ‘perfection’.

Condition:

The sculptures are in good condition, showing some corrosion marks due to age. The dimensions are circa 10 x 13 x 13 cm each.
