Description
ALLACH FENCER (NO. 83)
Most desirable and rare Allach Fencer, a finely detailed bisque porcelain standing 13" tall. The piece is marked on the base with the artist's name: "O[ttmar]. Obermaier" , with the underside of the base bearing impressed Allach trademark stylized SS runes, model no. "83", and hand-painted number: "8991". The sword on this piece was at one time broken at the hilt and base: it has been re-attached and this very rare statuette now awaits proper repair. The creation of "Der Fechter" is generally attributed to Reinhard Heydrich, who was of course an avid fencer, and this bisque statue was used for many presentations.
It apparently was also a personal favorite of Heinrich Himmler. The porcelain factory Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was established as a private concern in 1935. In 1936 the factory was acquired by Heinrich Himmler to produce works of art that would represent, in Himmler's eyes, true Germanic culture. Production was based at Allach, the largest subcamp of Dachau, and it used slave labor in the production of these pieces
