Description
A choice Egyptian steatite plaque, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, wonderfully carved with openwork design and hollowed interior, all carved by hand. One side depicts a bull standing to rt., winged deity above, the opposite side with an Eye of Horus, two longitudal holes for suspension. 1.4 x 1.2 cm. Intact and a miniature masterpiece! Ex Hamdy Sakr collection, London; previously in the private collection of Alex Anckonie III, acquired during his time in the Navy in the 1960's - 1970's.
