Description
Mid-19th century, ca. 1850 CE. Early .925 sterling charger; of circular form with scalloped edge, evidence of annealing (a heat process whereby a metal is heated to a specific temperature/color and then allowed to cool slowly, softening the metal so it can be cut and shaped more easily) and visible center mark. Wonderful lion's head detailing on each handle. Very high silver content with excellent age-tarnished patina. Silver weight: 35 oz., 980 grams of .925 silver. Size: 16.5" handle to handle, charger itself 11.5"in diameter.
