This stunning original work is by world renowned listed artist Stephen “Scott” Young. This piece was originally from the collection of Mark Young, Scott’s Brother. We are pleased to offer it at public auction, without reserves, to the highest bidder.This piece is an original hand-pulled copper plate etching, of a wonderful building, believed to be in Schwetzingen Germany, displaying a fine example of the architecture in Europe. Below the plate mark, in the lower right hand corner, it is pencil signed, "SS Young", as well as being signed within the plate, in the lower right corner, "SSY". The building also has the date “1884?” etched into the top cornice, just below the top spire. The Etching is 4" x 5 1/2" on 5 1/4" x 7" paper, and is professionally framed in an elegant black frame with Ivory/White & Black Matting, for a total measurement of 13.5" x 15". This piece has Scott’s inked thumbprint, visible on the top edge, which adds to the charm and uniqueness of the piece.This is an early example of Scott's mastery of the art of copper plate etching, for which many critics liken him to Rembrandt in his style.Please view the photos, or in person carefully to determine the age, condition, and quality of this lot.
