Description
Northwest Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1200 to 1000 BCE. Very rare and desirable bronze axe. Long socket with adze-shaped blade, some form of animal (looks like a shrew, but probably a dog or feline) on the shaft. Size: Blade 5" L, shaft 4-1/2" H.
Provenance: Ex- Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
