Description
Thailand, ca 1st millennium BCE. This is a pair of two small jars decorated with incised lines, one in a diagonal, wraparound pattern. These are from the Ban Chiang tradition. Ban Chiang is considered by UNESCO to be the most important prehistoric settlement so far found in Southeast Asia; alongside its worth in demonstrating when people in the region began to develop agriculture, it also has a vibrant pottery tradition. Size of largest: 3.6" W x 3.5" H (9.1 cm x 8.9 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
