A 19th century Carlton House style mahogany desk. An impressive desk with original owner Mr. Morton Marble, Journalist during the Civil War for World Newspaper.
This heavy desk being made of solid mahogany with a flame mahogany veneer. Secret compartments hidden behind file boxes. A locking drop box where letters or money can be left for desk owner. Appearing original green leather never replaced and now worn.
Made in New York c.1840-1850.
Dimensions: 42"h X 45"w X 24"d
Provenance: Mrs. Marble (Daughter of Morton Marble), Ida Ogilvie, Germantown, NY Estate.
