As an internationally renowned contemporary artist, Allan McCollum explores a fascination with methods of mass production in his work, often creating thousands of objects which, though produceden masse, maintain an intrinsic uniqueness. This drawings were done during a period when McCollum was working on his major ‘Drawings’ installation, comprised of 1800 unique drawings exhibited in the 2008 28th Bienal de São Paulo in Brazil.

Allan McCollum (b. 1944)

Allan McCollum is a contemporary artist who was born in California and currently lives works in New York City. As a self-taught artist, his oeuvre consists of a variety of paintings, drawings, sculptures and multiples. Through his art McCollum explores the relationship between ‘sentiment’ and mass production. His practice is extremely labor-intensive as his multi-media installations are composed of thousands of objects and drawings that are all slightly distinct, producing a dizzying and sublime effect. Notably he has participated in both the 1988 and 2012 Venice Biennale, and his works are held in over seventy global museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Occasional very minor scuffs to the original artist’s frames, otherwise in excellent condition. Not examined outside of the artist’s frames.
