Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, probably Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Quite possibly the single most hideous pre-Columbian piece Bob has ever encountered. Facial features are beyond description and have to be seen to be believed. Bizarre posture, possibly representing birthing or deformity. Incised necklace. Size: 12 1/2" H x 11 3/4" W (31.8 cm x 30 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
