Ca. 1897 first model second series of the "Celebrated Salmon and Grilse Click Reel" also known as the Restigouche with 5 position pin detent patented drag adjuster mounted on the front plate (spring loaded pin is not activating). This 4 3/8" diameter reel bears the Sep 2, 1879 patent on the drag adjustment wheel and the Jan 23, 1883 patent date on the rear sliding oil port cap. Includes German silver safety bands, double roller bars, rear mounted click, counter balanced "S"-handle, full length unaltered foot. Excellent minus original condition with no chips, cracks or significant scratches in the hard rubber, the owner's name "W.E. Strong" and date "91" are both engraved in fancy script on the front plate. Comes with a leather reel case.
