Description

With silvered brass dial marked "John Poole/Maker To The Admiralty./Fremchurch St. London 5179/C&J. Favre-Brandt Yokohama-Osaka" with Roman numerals, set in a locking mahogany box with recessed brass handles, brass shield shaped escutcheon on lid and second escutcheon on front. Painted inscription on lid in Japanese. Lid is double hinged with push-button clasp at top to open with cover glass to protect clock. Believed to be 19th century and made for the Japanese Navy. Includes clock key and case key. 7" square x 7 1/2" high.
